To be eligible for the Katie Lees Fellowship, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Age & Gender: Applicants must be female identifying and aged 34 years or younger at the time of application.
Residency: Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
Demonstrated Experience: Applicants must be performance artists or performance arts workers with demonstrated commitment to their artistic practice. This includes individuals with prior experience in theatre, writing, directing, producing, and/or other performing arts roles.
Applications will be assessed on the following criteria:
Creativity
The Fellowship seeks applications from individuals whose work demonstrates originality, innovation, and a distinct artistic voice. Applicants should present a new idea that shows creative ambition and vision.
Relevance to Theatre
Projects that align with the medium of theatre, whether through traditional or experimental approaches.
Impact
The potential to inspire new perspectives and contribute to a broader conversation that asks audiences to think differently.

Artistic and Personal Resonance
Applicants should provide insight into why they believe their work would resonate with Katie’s legacy. Consider how your idea or artistic approach is a reflection on Katie's life philosophy and themes of equality, compassion, creativity, exploration and fun.

1. Acknowledgement of Submission
Once you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation email acknowledging receipt of your submission.
2. Eligibility Review
We will first ensure that your application meets the eligibility criteria outlined in the Fellowship guidelines.
3. Assessment Process
Eligible applications will be assessed by the Katie Lees Foundation Board, the Katie Lees Fellowship Committee, and independent theatre representatives. All assessments will use the published criteria for the Fellowship for shortlisting.
4. Notification Timeline
Successful shortlisted applicants will be notified by 5 March 2025 and invited to participate in the Shortlist Pitch Night at FlightPath Theatre on 11 March 2025.
